The D Day! It was 8th January and I was on cloud 9. Everyone could tell. This post will be about the delivery and first ride (unique) experience.
I had asked for a morning delivery with the showroom. We (wifey, son and myself) were en-route to the showroom when the representative sent me a teaser photo of Street Triple R, covered in a black satin cloth.
We were stuck in traffic!
We reached the showroom and the representative had us wait for some time, I assumed it was for some paper work. After sometime, I realized it was for a cake. I unveiled the bike and cut the cake. The family left home and I followed on the brand new Street Triple R. As I said before – Euphoria!
The first service was at 1000 km mark. First break-in ride was with Sabarish. We headed to Mahabalipuram, a short ride and a discussion over a cup of tea.
Time for some triple Street Triples!
Manoj, Sabarish and myself planned for a ride to welcome the new bike. It was supposed to be a short 250 to 300 km ride, covering Uthukottai, Kalahashti and back to Chennai. What happened was a whole different story. We started on time from Chennai Trade Center and reached our first stop – Poondi lake. As is the norm, we had to take some photos.
Our next stop was at Uthukottai, from where we were supposed to head to Kalahashti. What was waiting at Uthukottai was an unique experience.
A broken/under construction bridge awaited us at Uthukottai. There was however, a small detour – a short off-road patch which lead to a road that we were supposed to cross. It was however submerged under a river or maybe some water body. We noticed a tractor which was ferrying people across. A local person called us and asked us to board the tractor. All 3 of us, unanimously, decided to retrace our steps and take some other road to Kalahashti.
Deciding on an alternate route…
Lost under the sky
The roads then took us to some place, far away and we were practically lost under the sky.
Having reached a town called Pitchathur, we finally got back on the route to Kalahashti. This however took us almost 2 plus hours – all the while searching for a decent restaurant to have our breakfast. Some pics had to be taken!
Once back on highway, we stopped at a newly opened restaurant at around 12 pm – what a time to break one’s fast. All of us had something called sandwich dosa. The restaurant was called The Master Chef – TMC, a one month old place. Clock struck 12:30 and we were on our way back to Chennai.
A fun and unique way to welcome the new Street Triple R, taking it over national highways, state highways, towns, villages, off road and even on Asia Highway apparently. Whatever was thrown at the bike, it delivered, and it is only in the break-in period!
